I never felt like I really wanted our sessions to end because it was toward the end of the year I saw the most growth in student achievement. I wanted to leave my students wth some key things to remember for the summer as they went on their way to wherever it was. Some graduated, others moved on to another school or a new grade level. Nevertheless, I wanted to make an impact. These three things were important and I made sure to pass them on because we have incredible recreational opportunities in our state.
1. When biking, riding a scooter, skating, etc., always wear a helmet. We want your smart brain back here in one piece next year!
2. When outside for extended periods, cover up with sunscreen. I do not have to tell you the stats, you know. This is a great habit to get students into that can save their life.
3. When around water, use the buddy system. Don't go in alone. You never know what can happen, so always bring a friend or make sure adult supervision is present. Again, we would like to see you again next fall.
I always put safety as a priority in every lesson and my last one every year was going to be no different. What is your year-end message?
